Ultra Thin-Section Bearings

Characteristics: Cross-section equal to ball diameter; section height constant across ~1" bore series (e.g., KD040, KA040).

Advantages: Saves 80% space vs. standard deep groove ball bearings in robotic arms or swivels. Enables hollow shaft designs. Weight reduction 5x.

Technical Ceiling: Cross-section 3/16" (4.76 mm) for bore up to 10 inches; radial runout 15 µm; limiting speed DN 600,000; static load 10 kN for 8" bore.

Caution: Standard bearings won’t fit in the housing envelope. However, thin-section bearings are very flexible - adjacent structure must be very stiff (>10x bearing stiffness). Clamping torque must be low and precise (max 2 Nm for small sizes).
